The Wait is OVER!! Launching the Aspire V5 and M5 laptops, Acer will
make them available with touchscreens. This time around, Acer has
improved its M Series and V Series laptops and has incorporated thinner
designs compared to the previous models. Two new models are available in
the M series - the 14" M5-481PT and the 15.6" M5-581T. These two models
can be categorized as ultrabooks. A new OS will be available for the
hardware.
Its good news for you folks now - the prices on the M5
and the V5 aren't high. The 14-inch M5 ultrabook with touch begins at
$799.99. The 14-inch V5 will cost you $749.99 and the 15.6-inch version
will cost you $50 more.
The Aspire M5 sports a 14-inch, 1366 x 768
display. It has a dual core, and a 1.7GHz Core i5 processor. Other
features include a DVD drive, 6GB of RAM, a 20GB SSD + 500GB hard drive
combo, and a DVD burner. The battery life lasts as long as 8 hours! The
laptop comes with a backlit keyboard and an aluminum alloy top casing.
It also has a 20-GB solid-state drive (SSD) to speed up boot time. With
this SSD, commonly launched applications can also be accessed in reduced
time.
Shoppers would definitely love to see the M5 on stores
along with the release of Windows 8. "The Aspire M5 series delivers that
perfect combination of portability and performance for mainstream
consumers, and goes a step further with premium features like touch
input.." says Scott Ledterman of Acer America.
On the other hand,
the Aspire V5 provides you a choice of either a 14- or 15.6-inch screen
(V5-471P and V5-571P, respectively) at 1366 x 768. There is a lack of
aluminum construction also, and the design is of the thicker type.
The
CPUs integrated are third-generation Intel Core i3, Core i5, and Core
i7 CPUs. The 14- and 15-inch models will sport thinner DVD burner
drives. The mechanical hard drives start at 500 GB. There is no SSD
option in the V5s as present in the M5 versions. Across V5 Laptops,
embedded Intel HD Graphics 4000 3D processors are used. This means that
you will experience PC gaming at image qualities at lower levels.
Other
features in the V5 lines are an HDMI output, a single USB 3.0 jack,
Bluetooth 4.0-plus connectivity, and a 1.3-megapixel Webcam."Acer
continues to deliver on its promise to bring innovative technology with a
superb blend of quality, performance and portability to consumers,"
says Sumit Agnihotry, another executive of Acer America. "With Windows
8, the new Aspire V5 notebook series with touch allows consumers a premium feature.
